Ink still drying
Mark, the ink is still drying on the check I wrote for my 88 H26.5. I bought mine from a dealer that had taken it in trade for a new boat. The boat had a cradle, original sails no roller furling, speed and depth instruments, compass, VHF, 9.9 Nissan out board and was in pretty good shape. The deck near the cabin sides crackles under foot, I don't think its to serious maybe just lacking a little filler. I plan on adding genoa track in this area and will investigate further when I drill the holes for the track. It also had a small leak in the anchor well which shouldn't be hard to fix. The drain for the well is not in the lowest point so water puddles in there and finds its way to the v-berth. I paid $8300 for it in Dec99. I have looked the boat over befor and after buying it and have not found anything that has surprized me. All in all I think its a well made boat for the money and would make a great boat for lakes and coastal waters. The cockpit is the one feature that kept me coming back, walk through transom, comfortable seats, room for four adults , and contoured coming for sitting up high when healed. I plan to sail mine on and inland lake and maybe move it to Lake Erie in a year or two. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any particular questions, I am in the owners directory. I also plan on making some improvements and will report the progress in this forum, the first is in here under H26.5 upgrades.Eric
