Why are you changing rudders? The rudder on my H26 seems very substantial. Is it a performance thing or is it a damage thing? I'm new at this. I highly value your experience. Mike in High Cotton

H26 ahd H260 Rudders Not the Same
I had a problem with my H26 rudder. Hunter Marine sent me a replacement but it was different from the original and wouldn't fit my H26. They sent me another -- identical to the first one they sent. Finally, the man in charge personally sent me a replacement rudder. It was identical to the first two! I took pictures of my original rudder and the ones sent to replace it and that was when we discovered they were sending me rudders for the 260, not the 26. The H26 rudder is much heavier and more substantial than the H260 and is shaped different, too. The problem with my H26 rudder was that it was hollow and water got into the hollow spot and froze and split the rudder. I ended up draining all the water, drying it out, filling it with fiber glass, epoxying the split and clamping it back together. Then I had to do a little filing and smoothing and coating it with gel-coat. It turned out just as good or better than the original. But the H26 and 260 rudders are different. Jim Schaff s/v Savannah
