thinking about scrapping/parting out H37C????

I picked up this boat in the VI for $500. It was full of water and laying on its side in Salt river (down for four months). I pumped it out and intended on haul-out/repair but feel it might be more trouble, $ then it's worth. I went in knowing I would need to gut the Int, rebuild the motor and rewire the boat but after floating her and towing to location closer to home "some things happend". Now I have to glass-in/rebuild the rudder tube. St Croix w/only one place that can do haul outs (The Golden Rail) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
What I want to know is, what can I easily sell off the boat so I can
put that towards something more turnkey:cry:

If I can find a place to dry it out and do the work I would love to keep her but as it stands I'm looking at $4000 for haulout/splash, unstep/step mast and two months yard rent. Wish I had the $ to throw at this beautiful hole in the water, she really is a beautifull rig.

Really too bad. And two months wouldn't even get you started. Is there a place where you can store the parts that you strip? Always someone looking for spars, furlers, winches, steering components, and stainless. What about the Yanmar, which one and how bad?

Two months is to dry it out and re-do the bottom and rudder repair, everything else can be done in the water. Yanmar is 27 hp but was open when it went down:cry: . I have a 20 hp for it ready to go in.

As for the lead, this is St Croix... with only one scrap place (that I know of). Aluminum is only .50 cents per lbs, not sure how little lead goes for.

I have a couple more weeks to find cheaper storage. Hopfully there will be something left to restore as "people" picked off a winch and my wheel. People here will steal shite off of toilet paper. Part of the charm of living here lol.

It's a 76'. I'll have to post the hull# later.
Going to check with Gold Coast Yachts (local builder) and see if I can do the work at there yard. They're not building anything at the moment.

Does anyone know who might have a tamplet of my hull (full keel)? I would like to build a cradel for it to be moved via flatbed and stored.

Hi, I have entered that hull # in the list of H37 Cutters I compile. It was built in May, 1979. This was a busy time at Hunter, as about 130 of the cutters were built between November 1978 and November 1979. Your boat falls in the middle of this period. Please let me know what happens - whether you restore or scrap her!

Got this from STX: "I put her on a friends mooring, added some extra sand screws. Rebuilding the NPS dock in Cruz bay, St. John hopefully funding her Resurrection". As I understand it that mooring is in St. Croix(STX) and he(Oliver) is in St. John. I asked him to update this thread.

I'm putting a 'Reserect Saltfish fund' together where people, Friends, anyone OR anything from any walk of life that wants to aid in this rebuild can come and do so (hell, you can use it as an excuse to visit the VI.... and some how make it tax deductable??
