Anyone out there have the original specs and engine information to a Morgan M33? The boat I'm looking at has a Universal gas engine, doesn't look like the Atomic 4 in my 1966 Tartan, also I guess it's classified as a racer/cruiser? The bottom end of the mast where it steps to the boat looks like an octopus! Are they relatively easy to sail, if a person has only been sailing for 4 yrs.?

Some of the early 33's were equipped with Atomic 4's My 77 has a Perkins 4.108 that became the standard inboard at some point. I'm not sure what you mean by easy to sail. They are heavy and beamy. We have always felt safe even in some heavy seas. Part of that is the reliability and power of the 4.108. It takes a 15 knot breeze to get them moving well. For cruisers like us they are great-big cockpit, high freeboard and a massive cabin (6'+ headroom). If you are going to race-forget it. You cant get enough time to make it competitive. What kind of specs do you want. Bob

I like the Morgan 33 a lot - but the draft is a little too deep for my corner of the world. But, if you can handle the draft, it can be a great boat to enjoy.:)
