I'm considering a 1984 27' Hunter. Can any one tell me anything about this boat and what I should look for. Thanks

Tom, I would start with the Boat Reviews under the

Model Information section on this site. There are over 100 reviews and about a dozen on the 1984. To get there: At the top, select Boat Info, then select Model Information. Then, over on the left click on the model you want. Good Luck!

A good old boat

B727 I assume you were making a joke. Not everyone wants or can afford a 34 ft sailboat. That being said (gosh I feel better now) The Hunter 27 is a great little boat. It is more roomy inside than many 27 footers. It has plenty of head room and is pretty easy to sail. It's just right for 2 people to overnight in, but a week or so would be a streach. Have a survey done (on land) since a boat with a lot of years can have blister problems and standing rigging problems. Make sure the aux engine is well maintained and in good condition as replacements are outrageously expensive ($7000-8000). Plan on replacing all of the running rigging, including halyards. While you're at it, you may want to replace hoses in the plumbing system (sinks and head). Check out all the sails for holes and small rips including loose threads. Mine is a 1978 and I'm pretty happy with it.
