I'm going to look at an '84 Hunter 20 this weekend. Any suggestions of things to look at on this particular yacht or any comments about it would be MOST welcome. Thanks to all! Fair Winds and Following Seas, Dick

IT'S A GREAT BOAT

I Bought mine 2 tears ago and love it. Not much to go wrong with it. I did have to replace the keel rope but I guess thats to be expected since it was made in 1983.I also like the pop top as you can open it up to make a lot more room in the cabin. I find it very easy to sail and very forgiving to mistakes. properly tuned you can let go of the tiller and it will turn onto the wind, it can heel to 20 degrees with no problem of capsize. If you have any other questions you can email me at TL2282@EMCS.NET I will be glad to ansure any questions you have. john

Check the tiller for delamination. Check the connectors on the stays and shrouds. Check for jellcoat blisters. Check all the wood on the trailer. Check operation and locking of the swing keel. I don't think the factory installed lights on the 20 so if it has lights check them closely as there is no way to know the ability of the installer. Check the sails and lines for rot and tares. Dirty sails and lines usually show poor maintenance. I am sure I've overlooked some very important things to check - hope someone else will pick them up. Phil Teter - Force 1 poteter@webzone.net
