HC 50 Another Bad Experiment?

I've seen this thing listed on ebay several times. Hunter is not the first to list a vessel with a large reserve price to get visibility and cheap advertising. Nobody is standing in line to pay a half mil for any Hunter. I saw it at the first Annapolis show, interesting vessel, big price and it's still a Hunter

Don't rain on my dreams

Ah, Jim, you're raining on my parade, beating down my dreams. Years ago I pretty much designed the Hunter 50 for myself in my mind. I based my thoughts on a boat of the fifties called Oceanus by Bill Garden which was one of the first light weight cruising boats of that time. Bob Perry said he use to race on it with Garden as a teen ager. About fifteen to twenty years ago I up graded my thoughts and made my boat all electric; electric stove, electric motor, electric winches, etc. It was a kick to think about what I would do. Well, Hunter was on to the same dreams as I was and they did put out brochure on "their" all electic boat (except for a generator). I still have one of those brochures. Well, of course you saw one at one of the boat shows, it wasn't all electric like my dream but it was pretty close. I still am in love with that boat, the Hunter Child 50. I wouldn't change a thing. I looked at it on eBay and went upstairs and asked my wife if I could have $250,000 from our savings (that IS our savings) to buy a boat and she pointed out we would have to sell the house, the cars, the cats, and everything else we own. Always the practical one, she is. So I'm still in my day dreaming mode about the HC50. What a beautiful boat.... Les

Did you ever notice what boats in your marina are always tied up waiting for a crew to arrive? The big boats of course! I dream of a boat I can leave the dock by myself and not come back for months if I choose. A boat that will take me wherever I want to go and bring me back safely.

HR or Bust

There are reasons why women don't let their men ogle other pretty women. These are the same reasons why your current boat should never let your eyes stray upon an Hallber-Rassy, especially an HR 48.
