Splicing line that small can be tough... but it is possible. I'd recommend you look at this video to see how easy it can be to do an eyesplice.

I bought some sta-set halyard rope yesterday. I am going to use a rope instead of steel cable on my latest fitness machine. The rope is 3/16". I need some kind of looped end. I just tied a bowline, it's the only knot I know. But it needs to be pretty like a spliced end. How long does it take to splice an end? Or where can I take the ropes and have someone splice them and how much does one usually charge for such a thing?

i want baggywrinkes and ratlines and mast pulpit and belaying pins--then salty is on--right now she is nekkid, but still a smallship...lol....beauutifull knotwork, btw....star knots are the true sign of saltiness.....--my uncle made them often...was a tallshipman--wish i could do the knotwork.....

If you want salty then replace the bottons on yer coat with star knots, well varnished. Get a copy of Ashley's and a ball of # 36 twine and get started. Those wishes won't become knowledge by themselves and the time will pass either way.

my formosa is going to have baggywrinkles instead of rubber ends on spreaders and such--she is a proper smallship and will be so fitted out!!! salty is in genes and some boats and if i am not salty lookin genough i just wash my decks in more sea water.....lol...have fun !! keep up with the goood and gorgeous knot work!!!!
