Check the link below: Today's Norfolk Virginian Pilot ran a story that the Dismal Swamp Canal, the 'alternative' route down the ICW via Elizabeth City may have to close, because of Corps of Engineers budget cuts. It seems that the feds can afford to re-build Iraq, but cannot a maintain a national historic site, according the article. All you snow-birds who turn at the I 64 high level bridge in Chesapeake for the scenic route, take note. Joe Phibbs

.... There is exactly $0 in the Fed budget for maintenence of any sort along the entire ICW (Based on what I read) There is already a grass roots campaign for calling and writing to congressmen. Get in on it if you feel motivatedJeff
