Stopped into Cosco to graze on free samples while my wife saved so much on great bargains that it will take months to pay for it all. Wow 20 lbs of stuffed olives for fraction of what we paid for the small jar of olives we have had in our fridge for the last 2 years.

Anyway, as we were leaving I saw a 19 ft. SeaRay boat they had on sale. SeaRays are good mid-line boats. $42.000 on sale for $32,500.

A bit more than what I paid for my O'day 39. Of course I sunk more into it but some of the nice 30 somethings in the O'day line can be had at that price and they will take you places others can only dream of.

I think we all can be happy with what we have.

From this, can we assume that shopping at Cosco is not your favorite pastime? ? ?

Oday 35 and Mariner 2+2 Alexandria, VA
Bought my O'day 35 about 8 years ago for 42500. I have sunk about 15K into it in the last few years. We have put over 10K miles past her keel, and this summer it will again take us to the rOnDAYvous and back and likely to the Bahamas and back as well. To and from last years meeting we used a total of 25 gallons of diesel (and were liberal at running it.) Thank you "Cyganka" for carrying our motley crew thus far...

That being said, a costco sized jug of olives makes a metric a_s ton of martinis, and their large bag of limes couid make a plethora of rum drinks. Bargains are truly where you find them. Sail on my friends...sail on.

Actually I enjoy it but often laugh at ourselves when we come in for a specific item leave with a lamp or something.

My comments on Cosco strayed from my main point about the value of these boats.
The most expensive Oday, the 40 can be purchased for 1/2 the price of a wake boarding boat or the full cost of a general runabout like the Searay..

Refurbishing is well worth the effort. Be it a complete restoration like YOT or just getting the boat back in sailing condition like Panta Rhei.

I have to agree with the value Todd. Despite the irritating little things that go wrong, with the new sails due to arrive I have about 25,000 into YOT. So for the price of a small runabout I have a fantastic sailing machine. P.S. I should have spent some time on the iron wind. The carb is full of gunk and stuff. Would have saved the humiliation of getting towed in. I did get the, "What year is this," and the, "This is gorgeous," which did help from the Tow Boat Captain which helped lessen the embarassment.
