mine needs replaced

Is this just standard heater hose I can buy at the auto parts store, or is it a moulded hose specific to my Yanmar 1GM?

I've looked at exploded diagrams of the 1GM, but the hose is not listed as a sellable part.

Is the hose formed? If it holds its shape when removed I would recommend replacing it with an OEM part. I know this because I tried this with my 2GM and when it got warm the hose collapsed and I overheated. Had to be towed. It took a while for me to figure out what happened but luckily it was the last part I had replaced on the engine so I had a starting point.

You can ALWAYS replace a formed hose with a standard one IF you have the room to route it. As sailm8 indicated the sharp turns/bends cause problems. If you reroute to a longer hose without the sharp bends you will be fine.

Also consider hose flex. engine vibration will require securing the hose somehow so it does not vibrate and fracture at the hose ends.

Yes, I believe the hose is formed, but I haven't been able to find it online since I don't know what part # it is, or what it is called. I've been to a couple of different sites and neither lists the hose in their parts list

Found it at
That's the right part, but I'm certainly not paying $221.00 + vat for it!

Thanks. I hope that's Yanmars part #. I'm off to Google it.
TOAD Marine Supply. Less than $25! Much better price. Hope it's the correct part, cause there's no photo.

Thanks a bunch, sailm8!

there is nothing wrong with heater hose most cars today run a 200 deg, if your hose is molded to a specific shape take it out and go to napa auto parts and see if they have a hose that is molded like yours. also they sell silicone base hoses that are double duty, like on you exaust pipe that blue kind of hose!if you cant find the right one get a long hose and make a complete loop as not to kink the hose. that website was rediculus.

Most marine outfitters sell engine heater hose that has a wound metal coil wire on the inside that allows the hose to stay open on the inside even when bent into funny angles. No OEM part required.
