Has anyone replaced the ice chest in the H260 with a thermoelectric cooler? I am looking for a cooler WITH AC converter that will fit in my H260 without doing any "surgury" to the boat. Thanks for your input! Ralph C. Regar S/V Shambala

Yes

I am looking at a WACO fridge that is almost exactly the right size.

Coleman cooler

I installed a Coleman cooler in my 2003 260, but I had to raise the counter cover to the cooler area an 1 1/4". I did this with a teak strip that the cover now is hinged to. I can send a picture if you would like.

Thermo-electric is cheap and simple, but...

...it will not cool as well and is less efficient (uses more power) than a good compressor driven unit. alan

Yes they do not cool as well.

Like down here if the temp is say 45c then the fridge will only keeps things cool to about 25c.

Will Keep Cool Well, But Not Cool Down So Well

I really like mine just plan on only using it for pre chilled items.

thermoelectrics struggle

We had a compressor unit that was great....had two switches (cool or cold).....cold was exactly that.....COLD!......the thermoelectric we got, after running our compressor unit for years, struggled to even get below room temp. In the Texas heat that not good.
