Well the deed is done! I replaced the 2 12v 4D batteries with 6 6v Trojan T105's. I ended up putting two under the sole plate and shifting things around was not as bad as I thought it would be. Hopefully this will be an improvement! It certainly is a leap forward as far as AH's are concerned. Thanks again for all your assistance and comments on this subject.

An update on your results and experience is a couple of weeks would be great.

First night out and I must say I am impressed! If I had known how much better the battery capacity was I would have done this long ago. it is impressive. Of course one of my 4D's must have been going bad but even given that the new 6v's held up much better than the 4D's ever did. All night and they never went below 90%. Highly recommend the change! Thanks all for your input and advice.

Great to hear! What are you using to manage/ report you battery percentage? Right now I just use my volt meter......which is a big guess.

Icebreaker I use a Xantrex LinkPro. I use it to monitor my House and Starter batteries. Just enter the AH's and it keeps track of your use and reports the percentage. It also monitors voltage in both batteries. Really like the system and not hard to install. I had the Linklite in my last boat and liked it as well. I thought I would try the Pro in this one.
