Hi all,

We just experienced 65 mph gale winds from from a Nor'easter from about noon to midnight. My Club's Marina sustained substantial dock damage, damaging several boats.

All of my lines held, except for my port side stern cleat that actually broke off from its mount. The bottom legs and bolts are still on the boat with no damage to the fiberglass. It was so bad that I could not attempt to board the boat to get a line on the port winch. I had to settle for two lines attached to the port and starboard side rear railing in the hope that the base of each could handle the impact loading.......which, as it turns out, they did.

My question is, now that I must replace the cleat, is there an easy way to access the nuts unerneath the fiberglass for this cleat from either the stern locker or inside the lazarette?

I am so grateful this was the only damage. The boat was actually moving in a circular motion about 4 feet in any given direction in a mad dance.

Other boats were holed and some wound up against each other....it was horrid.

Thanks for your help.
