For any new or starting out sailor, the best advice I can give you with out any hesitation is: NEVER GO OUT WHEN THE WIND IS EAST OF NORTH. At this time of year, pick your weather, well, do that at anytime you go out. The New Jersey coast can be a real bear and the foul weather can last for a while. Above all, go for and have a blast.

Sailing the New Jersey Coast

I am retiring at the end of the year and my wife and I plan on taking our Hunter 430 from Newport RI to Key West Florida beginning next September. The only area we are concerned about sailing is from the west end of Long Island Sound to the southern tip of New Jersey. Do you have any information that might be helpful to us in addition to east wind problems? Thanks Steve
