I was out on my boat the other night picking at some problem with the engine, and I realized something... The screwdriver might be the most indispensible tool I've ever put on that boat. I can pry, I can unscrew, I can test electricity... it's great.

So that leads me to my question:

What's the most incredibly useful tool/thing/group of things on your boat?

Thanks!

Ken has a metric Crescent wrench? Where can I get one? Now I know why my Craftsman always slips and busts my knuckles. But I digress, the Leatherman would be my first choice.

Important things

1. Duct tape, obviously.
2. Hairdryer, to loosen hoses and warm cold engine before starting.
3. Man overboard training and equipment.
4. Bourbon, for the evening.

Duct Tape & Wire Ties!!!

I wholeheartedly concur.

BTW- Ed- I think they stock the metric adjustables next to the left handed hammers.

You guys are great. Based on this thread I went in a a large Sears 'superstore' and asked the guys in the toolsection there the left handed section was. Several look at me crosseyed  , but there was one older saleswman who told be they were on the right side of the department.
Sure enough, a nice selection of left handed screw drivers, pliers, vise grips, wrenchs, hammer. WOW, I could not believe my eyes. Only about 10% more in price than the right handed version.

I have found that a good supply of Hydrogen Hydroxide is absolutely necessary. Even better if some of it is frozen!

That's strange way to call water, H2O. :doh:Now I wonder what you would call cold beer ?
