The Memory Maker is back on ther water!

After a long 4 month process we have refurbished our 1983 Hunter 20 and we splashed her in Lake Monroe this past Saturday. So far it looks like my biggest goof was that I put the jib jam cleats on backwards and had to flip them around. That took 5 mins and then it was time to raise the sails and get to sailing.
Not only does she look so much better but she is dry inside now. We had a nagging leak in the keel trunk area I never could fully fix from inside the boat and it was not till I got her off the trailer that I could fully see and fix what the issue was.
Now we get to spend the rest of the season sailing her every and then the off season preparing for our honeymoon sailing the North channel in her next July.

Wow, thats quite the refurbish job! Did you do anything to the interior?

We actually did the interior last winter. We bought the boat without cushions so that was first on the list so we could over night on her. I replaced all the interior wood and removed the sink as we cannot have grey water drains in Indiana. I cut out the sink area and converted that into our cooler holder which is awesome. We never worry about turning our cooler over now. Then after our first night aboard it was obvious we could use more "counter space" and a place to keep silverware. So I made a new cabinet with a drawer under it for the port side and we love it! I added a wood binocular holder for our binocs so now we are not chasing them down when we want to use them. I added a stereo and all led lighting for the running lights so with everything turned on at once we are only pulling 3 amps. I wired the stern running light separate so we can use it as a swim light at night. I added led lights to the under side of the spreader bars which are awesome. I love those lights at night. They cast a soft glow down on the top deck and we are no longer stumbling around in the dark. If you scroll back through the blog there will be pics of the interior scattered through the entries.
Now I am trying to figure out where I can mount the chartplotter/gps and the VHF radio. Not much room aboard for those items.
