the keys back country and gulf side?

My wife and i are heading down to the keys for two weeks of sailing with out potter-19. she draws 18" loaded. has anyone here taken their boats through waltz key basin or anywhere through the back country? any notable points of interest? we'll be making a few trips to the Atlantic sides aw well for snorkeling and diving.

Nice anchorage bayside at Key Largo but there may be some anchoring restrictions. Don't miss the Loreli (sp) or the Islamorada fish co, Bahia Honda park to name a few. There are hundreds of islands to explore. Pennekamp PArk, Rodrigues Key is a nice anchorage molasses reef, Christ statue near the elbow are all Atlantic side.

It might be out of print but Frank Papy's guide to the keys is a good resource. We sailed our C22 all over the upper keys. The hardest part was finding a good launch ramp and a place to leave the car and trailer.

Thank you. sailing your C22 do you find the depth soundings to be pretty accurate for where you sailed? we'll be there during some 20" tide swings but most of them are in the 12"-18" range.
