I need your help, ideas, and experiences... I'm working on an article for MainBrace about the C22's slide-out galley. Although you don't need to limit your comments to the following questions, I'd particularly like to know your response to any/all of these: (1) Do you have a slide-out galley, and if so, do you use it? If you don't have one, would you like one? (2) If you had one but removed it from your boat, why? Are you glad you did? Are you making any ingenious uses of the storage space you recpatured by removing it? (3) If you removed the galley, or never had one to begin with, what alternate arrangements have you made (if any) for drinking water, storage, cooking facilities, etc.? (this may overlap with the next question) (4) Have you "homebuilt" anything to replace the slide-out galley? If so, any photos or sketches you'd be willing to share would be great. (5) If you kept the slide-out galley on your boat, have you modified it at all? Have you discovered any "tips" or "tricks" for making it more user-friendly or maintainable? (6) Do you know anything about the history of the slide-out galley? Did the design change over time? You can respond on this forum, or (preferably) e-mail me directly at mpedone@adelphia.net. In your response, please provide as much of the following information as you're willing to: name, sail number, boat year and model, home port. Don't send me anything you're not willing to see in print (however, I will keep your e-mail address private). If you send me any information, including images, you're giving me, MainBrace, and the C22 NSA the right to use and publish them royalty-free. Sorry for the legalese... force of habit. Thanks, Mike Pedone #8191 - "Irritable Bow"

slid out

hello mike, I don't have much information on this question, but as no one else has answered your question, I will offer what I can. 1. my 22 didn't have one when I bought it used. I had to search the internet for almost a year to find one.( With all the people removing them there certainly are not too many floating around ) 5. I have modified it with a handle in the end to pull it out of its alcove, and put a small drawer in it for storage of sink stuff.the ice chest is such a nuisance to clean that I use it for storage ( first aid kit, batteries, spark plugs etc.. 6.the slide out design was used on a few other boats ( I don't remember the names at this time ), the company originally used a non repairable sink water pump that was changed about 1983, to a repairable style that was too tall to clear the galley storage area, so the over all hight of the galley was reduced for clearance. john

gally on C-22 #9911 82 model built 81

I installed an electric Par water pump on my gally. The height of the faucet still allows the gally to slide back under the cock pit. I also removed the original two burner alcohol stove and use a single burner Kenyon butane stove stored under the starboard seat next to the gally. This allows me to have a small area for various small projects without having to set up the table. The Kenyon burner is the newer one not subject to the previous recall and stores in the Kenyon case.
