I need to replace my 150 genoa on my Macgregor26. While searching sailmakers sites I ran accross PEAK SALES and their "GENERATOR". A Bi-Radial free flying sail that carries the design lines of a traditional genoa. At literally HALF the price of an OEM 150 genoa I am, needless to say, quite interested in this sail. Anyone out there with any opinion on this sail?

We do not suggest that "The Generator" replace a traditional jib or genoa.

I got the ad. It was for a light air sail. I would not use this in place of a 130 or 150 Genoa. Also, make sure you can actually use a 150. I get a 150 for my 272, and it was over powered. I had to reef often to get good balance. I think a 130 would have been just fine.
Its a off-the-wind sail. Because it is not attached to the forestay, it will never fly higher that 90 to true wind. That makes it a reaching sail, or a reaching spinnaker. It is NOT a replacement for your genoa.
The sail does not RATE as a spinnaker however, because its mid-girth measument is too narrow (giving it hollow).
If you have an OK way to tack it at the bow, it probably is a fun sail it bomb around with.

I bought one for my little Montgomery 17. Only had a chance to fly it once so far and it was a blast. I set it flying from a temporary bowsprit rigged to my new anchor sprit. It is a very light sail, not intended for winds over 10 mph. Definitely not a genoa replacement!
The boxing glove is for "intimidation" only!
