Maybe the solution (for recreational boating) is to permanently close the canal, but install a marine railway or transfer point that lifts the boats clean out of the river, and powerwashes them before they go into the lake side?
Or something... it doesn't seem like an insurmountable technical problem.
The companies that imported the carp, and the states that permitted their importation can pay for this. :cussing: . Good use for some stimulus money, if you consider all the businesses that could be affected by closure.
