As my wife used to say when (as a teenager) she got disciplined after staying out partying to late, "What's a beating after a good time?" I got back home yesterday (Tuesday) after the absolutely best owners' rOnDAYvous ever. Sailed up to the dock, secured the boat and unloaded the bare minimum amount of stuff before heading home. That makes today cleanup day (Ugh!). Despite the grim weather forecast, I'll be at the boat with my ShopVac and other "implements of destruction" to get EmmieLou shipshape and ready for her next adventure. I'm pretty confident that everyone and anyone who showed up in Milford had a grand ol' time -- from grizzled rOnDAYvous veterans to curious, fresh-faced first-timers. I'm sorry that a number of owners were unable to attend due to last-minute personal or work-related issues, but I hope the buzz emanatng from this year's event will get people even that much more psyched up to attend in the future. I'll be eagerly awaiting some of the feedback from others who were there. My own assessment? FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC!!! Pete s/v EmmieLou (O-322) Little Silver, NJ

Email posting?

Bill, I had an "away" message posted on my email inbox at work, so I may have missed a ton of stuff from the S***Net list-serv. Do you know of any way I can find out what I missed from an archive, or the like? Pete

Another rOnDAYvous response

One of the best joys of life is meeting new friends :) and Mary,Elizabeth and I had a great weekend and we can't wait to do again. Mary really enjoyed herself crewing in the race with Mike (first race for her) and I have a great picture of Mike at the top of the mast but can't post it cause I left the camera on the boat Free Spirit is still not home but going around the city on Sat. morning and heading for Fire Island inlet so my rOnDAYvous adventure is still happening and here's my email address so we can keep in touch and I still have the phone #'s that are already in the data base Fair winds Bob aka rookie RAD RADeSimone1@aol.com

And another :)

Sandy and I had such a blast. We were new comers this time but it certainly wont be the last. We enjoyed wonderful hospitality and a really fun and relaxing sail with Bill and Patty (race? What race). Some great boat tours. Having dinner with everyone and then kicking back on the docks for a singalong with friends and family - outstanding! It was so nice to meet everyone and put a face on all who we experience through the forums. My only regret is that we couldn't make the pot luck Friday and spend more time with all of you. And of course after all of the anticipation, it went by so fast! When I was telling my sister about it she said "really? You had such a good time and you didn't know anybody?" I said "not know anybody? We all own Odays and we all love sailing"! Much thanks to Mike and Pete and the others who planned to make it so easy for us to just show up and have fun. I can't wait 'till next year! Rob

Great time!

Joan, Elizabeth and I had a great time, despite our "dash to Fenway". We will be looking forward to next year and staying for the Saturday night festivities. I will be waiting to see some pictures of the race, and the BBQ. Bill, Thanks for posting the picture, it is the first one we have of "Apple O'Day" under sail (well sort of) since we have owned her. Joan has stayed on an extended vacation and still has our camera. When I get the camera I will post a picture of "kukulcan". By the way, we went from ho hum slow to rather lively quite quickly on Sunday, didn't we? It was a fun trip home. Rick aka "appleman"

Free Spirit finally home

Left Glen Cove at 5am this morning and got to my dock at Bay Shore at 5pm this evening, every thing just worked so well today from catching the current through Hell Gate and the Battery to the wind from Rockaway to Fire Island Inlet (averaged 5.5 kts) and got home 3 and half hours ahead of my estimated time of entering the inlet Treated the crew to a sushi dinner and now I'm ready to sit back and chill

DaCapo home too........

well, after a week in City Island, I took DaCapo home yesterday. 13 hrs. (not bad and that was with a pretty good wind on the nose the whole way....and I did sail the last 1 1/2 hours to my mooring) I'm glad everyone made it home safe and sound. I'm STILL going to push to have the next rOnDAYvous on the Hudson at my club........it would be a great experience for you all. Mike C. O'28 "DaCapo"

Mike..

Funny you should mention having the rOnDAYvous at your club cause on the way home my sailing buddies brought up the subject of sailing up the hudson and I said YES because 20+ years ago when I had my Chris Craft I went way up past the Troy locks and had great time and would love to do it again.
