New to this forum- not sure where to post this question. So if it is in the wrong place, please direct me to the correct forum. The Chandlery here on line- to order items for the Hunters- are the prices here on line equal to possible ordering at my local chandlery? I think it's great that Hunter has this option to order directly from them- makes it alot easier- but I just wanted to know if the prices were alot higher or pretty much equal with say West Marine and places like that. Thanks! p.s. possible purchasing a hunter 40 so I have ALOT of questions in a short amount of time. :)

It's a hunter 40 1985....anyone have any good, bad things to say about that model. Things to watch out for, issues that this model had? Thanks for all your help!

Welcome Tammy

It's my understanding that this isn't the 'factory' site but the prices do seem as good or better than West, etc. Good luck on your h40 purchase. We've lived aboard ours for over 3 years now and love it. There's lot's of h40 owners contributing to this site who will give you tons of input if/when you're ready. You can visit our website at: www.svanthem.com or click on the related link below Good luck!

Try "Boat Information" tab (#3 at top of Home Page

For owner information about the Hunter 40 a good start point is "Boat Information". At the Home Page click on the third tab (from the left) near the top of the page and select one of the drop-down items. There are owners comments, pictures, specs, etc. If that isn't enough, one can do a query for "hunter 40" in the archives. Hopefully that should keep you busy for a little while....

look at owner directory

Hi Tammy, Nice to see another woman on this site. Women have received a warm welcome here. Have you looked at the owner directory? You can find it on the fourth tab from the left on the home page. Just go to "search for an owner" and specify the model you're looking for. I just tried that search for Hunter 40 owners and there are more than 100. You can also specify geography so that you can find someone in your area who has that boat. You can then send them an email and ask questions. There seems to be a glitch right now with the search feature - when I searched on Hunter 40, it gave me the 40s and the 40.5s. I'm sure that Phil will fix it when he has time. But don't let that stop you. When we were considering the Hunter 356, we used the email feature to write to current owners and ask them specific questions. One couple was gracious enough to invite us out for a sail on their boat before we made our decision. There are lots of people who will give you the benefit of their experience. Just ask!

Chandlery info

Hi Tammy, welcome! This site is not affiliated with Hunter Marine, although we have a good relationship with them. We are an independent organization with web sites for owners of popular boats. Regarding prices, we do make every effort to compare our prices with West and other retail and online retailers. On many items we are below those prices, on some we are competitive. If we can't be competitive with the discount pricing we usually do not carry the product. You'll find our canvas and other custom items to be particularly reasonable. Whether you use the chandlery or not we look forward to seeing you on the site! ph.

Thanks!

appreciate the responses. I just was amazed when we looked at a hunter, then came to this site that we could actually order ready made for the boat. Of all the other boats we have looked at, everything would have had to been made/ordered custom so this is a big plus for us in regards to possible purchasing the boat and ordering right from her. Again, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions :)

Swim Platform

Does the chandlery here sell some sort of a swim platform ? The ladder is ok, but I would prefer a platform for the kids?
