Hi Dave

All going well. Just returned from four days sailing in The Solent and had
a greta time. Force 5 and 6, blue sky but very lumpy sea (wind over tide)
but really enjoyed the sailing, drinking and meeting five other Vega owners
at Farehma reek (Small town near Portsmouth that has ten Vegas!!). Returned
home yesterday, done my washing, wife and kids have gone to London for the
Queens Jubilee so I am by myself for a couple of days. Still loads of boat
work to do.

See ya and happy alunching..

Hi Flor

The place is Fareham which is in Portsmouth Harbour. Go in the entrance of
Portsmouth and go North for about four miles and i is in the North West end
of Portsmouth. A lovely club, free pontoon for the night, good clubhouse
etc. If you phone me when you are in the UK I will see if I can meet with
you or arrange a mooring at Fareham for you.

My phone numbers are;

My boat, the Casual Observer is going to be launched this Friday, the
7th of June at 9 AM, from the West Basin on board the Patuxent River
Naval Air Station, Lexington Park, MD. This will be the first time I
sail this boat. I have not even pulled the sails up yet. I have
been working on this since the 21 of March 2002. The bottom has been
cleaned and painted with 3 coats of Interlux Micron Extra, and the
hull has been shined. I have invited a few of my closest friends,
and my daughter Katherine and her husband Randy. I have a new boat
slip at the Harbor Island Marina, on Solomons Island, MD, right
across the street from the Tiki Bar.

I will preform the ceromonialy christening with a bottle of cold
Michelob. For me, not for the boat :).

I hope to return here on Monday with pictures.

Hello Steve,
I'm glad you enjoyed your sailing.
We, on the other side of the Channel, had some lovely days as well. My Vega
reached a speed of 6.2 (ground and water).
Next weekend we'll try a passage to Dover and Brighton.
You made me curious by mentioning there are ten Vegas in Farehma reek. I
haven't seen any in Belgium yet.
Unfortunately I can't find Farehma on the map.
Any help?
Fair winds.

David,

Good luck with your first sail. This might give me an excuse (not that I need one) to go have a few drinks at the Tiki bar and try and witness your arrival.
