I thought I had heard at one time that all C-310's were built in FL. Can that be confirmed?

One way to tell i think......until recently all molded in deck non-skid boats were CA and all sandpaper non-skid's were FL. I think. Now all are FL and molded in.

I was under the impression that production started in California and was moved to Florida.

The way i get it....Catalina bought the Morgan plant in the late 90s, and manufactured in both places. I had a '97 C 270, a friend a 97 C-28. I had molded, he has sandpaper. Understood the difference was FL vs CA. Catalina left CA a few years ago due to the tree- huggers, and settled into the Morgan, Largo facility. Have you checked Spectrum gelcoat?

I am afraid I must disagree on the molded vs. sand non-skid. Catalina has molded the non-skid for many years and was a standard at the Calf plant. I have visited both, and was offered a position at the FL plant some 16 years ago. (fool I didn't take it) Yes they built boats at both locations until a few years ago, certain models were built at specific plants, and during the move the models in production will have two build locations. Leo, noted above his 1999 #44 was built in Cal, I have 2001 #52 and I am trying to be specific to the C-310 Model.

Catalina never built boats outside the country.

As for where to get the gel-coat, I thank you for the information but that is not my issue. There is clearly a FL White and a Calf White for the Catalina line. Believe it or not, white is not white and will look a total different color (to bright or to dirty) if it's wrong.

Thank you all...

I guess what I was trying to say was that I thought sandpaper nonskid was only from the Largo plant. Of course now only molded is available.

Best to call Catalina I guess. Mine, 258 was built in FL, but the paperwork/documentation says CA. Can't trust the documentation after two ownership transfers. My docs also say I have a wing keel draft and I have a fin.

I used the gelcoat from Catalina Direct and it was a good match. The stuff here at SBO looks like the same stuff at the same price.

Hi Alan
We bought the boat new. We met the truck as it arrived in Pickering.
I bought For Pete's Sake at the Toronto Boat Show in Jan 2001 so had a long wait. She was delivered in April but we didn't get possession until early June.
I wanted to see her under construction but CY had/have some very restrictive limitations so it never happened.

Where are you located? I ordered the boat with a fin and believe she is a rarity on Lake Ontario

No they started production in CA. Think it was around hull #70/80 they shifted to FL.
Had teething problems still when they built hull 147

Peter, also interested in teething issues, I have hull 160. By the way I am in the club across from you tomorrow, Thursday, maybe we can meet. Are you doing the 300?
Cheers

Look forward to it. It is our race night @ OYS but we should be back by 8 or so.
I race on a C&C 33, Soggy Dollars; right in front of the clubhouse.
Cell is 416 996-0423.

Teething...
Engine vibration... Idle was still set for 850
Fresh water system leaks... Still have a couple of intermittent
Rudder restraint... 3 iterations of design
Check the bottom of the companionway opening. Where the bottom hatch board actually rests. Mine was angled in towards the little bulkhead so the water would sit
Chainplate leaks
Starboard side fixed cabin window could be pushed out about 1" at the front.
And on and on... Stuff I have forgotten
