Several people have asked about the engine installation on my Vega.
Here is a partial response. More to follow.

I will prepare a brief summary of my installation for the group.
Give me a couple of days. Basically everything went very well. No
major problems were encountered. I replaced everything. The
batteries, all of the wires except for the lights. All of the fuel
lines. New sound proofing, new bilge paint. I removed and cleaned
the fuel tank and had to replace the fuel tank cover plate which I
had manufactured. I also installed a new Packless Shaft Seal
(PSS). I haven't turned anything on yet, and I still don't know if
the engine will turn over or start. Thursday is going to be a very
exciting day. I posted a picture of the new stern graphics on the
Vega web site. I also replaced the water intake thru-hull as well
as all of the other thru hull fittings. I added the NAVIK windvane
and a Furlex roller furling system. New speed and depth gauges by
standard horizon and the Garman GPS 182 Color mapping GPS. I did
all of the work myself except for the Furlex system which requires
going up the mast. I'm to old and to worn out to climb the mast. I
really enjoyed this project, I love turning wrenches. I am a
former US Navy CPO and Jet Engine Mechanic, now an aero engineer.
I love the smell of diesel fuel in the morning. :)
