Well.......................finally made it out to the boat for a test fit of the new "sprit". Didn't take any pictures because of a camera that has never NOT worked before :cussing:. But everything is fitting up VERY well. :dance:
Have discovered that the way these were originally rigged was that the "Jib Hoist Halyard" actually pulled up a double sheave block which carried the halyards for the staysail and yankee. And, to me at least, appears to be a rather ingenious idea as it allows, from what I can determine at least, a myriad of hoist and trim possibilities. When we first bought the bought I actually found the double block in a locker and wondered what it was for, now I know.
Gonna try to make it out again soon for a second test-fit as soon as we get the welds cleaned up and I WILL have a new camera by then. Once all the welds we have made to this point have been dressed in it will be time to mount the sprit and measure and fabricate the lower support arms.
