The 2 best days in a boaters life.....

And I had them both in the last 30 days!

I bought my first boat 4 years ago. In my search, I found a really nice O'Day 322. It sold before I made an offer, and I ended up buying a newer Hunter 280. The 280 turned out to be a great first boat...low maintenance, easy to handle, etc. I learned to solo it and have really enjoyed her. But I stayed in contact with the guy who bought "my" O'Day 322, and out of the blue he emailed and said he moved and wanted to sell her. I made an offer, and ended up with 2 boats (which did not make the Admiral happy).

But fortunately, I found a buyer for the Hunter, and sold her the same month I bought the O'Day (and before I had to shell out $ for 2 storage fees!).

So, while I had a "fleet" for a little while, I was very fortunate to upgrade to a great sailing O'Day, and to sell my first boat the same month....2 very good days indeed!

Tonight, I sailed against a friends Hunter 33 (a really nice boat) and held him off for a long time...the O'Day performs well, and I can't be happier (well, until I am ready for. Beneteau 373!).

Hello Greg,
Having those "two best days" close together is great planning or else just plain luck! Either way it happened, congratulations on the accomplishment. I hope you enjoy the Oday 322. We have owned several Oday sailboats throughout out sailing experience, and we have enjoyed each one for their sailing qualities and good looks. Our 272 is a wonderful daysailer, and its shallow wing keel allows us to safely get into shallow areas of SW Florida's waters.

I have an Odayy 322 and she is a great boat. Had it in Georgian bay for three years and now in lake Simcoe. We see it as our cottage on the water and although foot itis is a nasty disease Im pretty sure I won't be parting ways with her any time soon

1. The first day after a refit.

2. The first time the marina disappears below the horizon.

Figuratively. The best days are actually surprises, which keeps us coming back.

The day you buy a boat is too busy to really enjoy, and I hated selling each boat.

. She is a very nice boat, and her cabin is great for a boat her size. Have you made any modifications? I am not thrilled with the backstay and may eventually try and re-rig it with a split backstay. Going to add lazy jacks (soon), probably with a built in cover (Mack Pack or something). But she sails great and I am going to enjoy a bigger boat.

I added a fridge to the ice box and some rails seats last year. I have the lazy jacks with a drop in sail bag. I also did some interlock fake teak in the cock pit to add some flare. I have her rigged for cruising so she is a bit of a chunky monkey but still sails like a dream. Many members of my club are impressed with the interior lay out of the 322 as they offer great cabin space for a 32ft boat.

. What brand of sail cover/ lazy jacks did you use? I am looking at a Mack Pack and a few other brands....

Mine came with refrigeration and perch seats. Has an ugly Bimini that I want to remove, but have to take the back stay off to get the Bimini off.
