Hello Chuck:

I walked to my local mailbox last night and discovered my AVA newsletter in
the box. To my surprise - Lyra on the front page. Thanks for the opportunity
to share. The newsletter is great and I applaud you for taking on the task
as the North American facilitator for the exchange of information about the
VEGA. It is fantastic to be able to communicate with such a diverse group of
people from all over the world. As for a rendezvous in the Pacific
Northwest...There appears to be a number of VEGA owners in the area...now is
the time to decide on when and where we should meet next summer...We all
agree that Hawaii is the preferred choice, but...Port Townsend or somewhere
in the San Juans, SaltSpring, Victoria, Port Browning, Nanaimo, you name it,
we'll be there
Start the dialogue and let's see what transpires.

Well Brian,

Funny you should mention that. I have just begun the preliminary
planning for a little get together for the Hawaii contingent (All five
of us). My idea is for the Oahu based boats to sail to Nawiwili or
Hanalei on Kauai for a long weekend and meet the lone AVA member on
that island, Scott Geffe. Laura and I were thinking about spending
our vacation sailing to Kauai anyway so I though we'd make it a sort
of preliminary test run of a possible "Aloha Regatta" or rendezvous.
I'm not much into racing so we'd be more likely to have a luau and
casual cruising party than a series of races. I'm shooting for August.

I like the idea of a Pac NW Rendezvous and I suspect that someone
might be willing to organize one on the East Coast too. The thing is,
we need someone to come forward and volunteer to be the regional
coordinator. Pick a date and a place, get with a local yacht club or
marina and let me know so I can get the word out. I can make
advertising space available free to potential sponsors.

Aloha,

Chuck Rose

Brian, I won't lug the Vega to the sea but I will show up for any get together of Vega owners in the NW. Thanks
