I'd like to thank all of you for all of your posts...We have just, (in the last 2 weeks) become the rpoud owners of a '79 H37C...We love it..As well as anyone that sees her or comes aboard her...We are new, make that first time boat owners and are learning to sail...We feel fortunate that we were unwittingly smart enough to chose this boat..(or were we chosen? not sure) Thanks again for all the information, and some great ideas...Keep 'em coming... Not fair! 
Ed, Your first boat a 37C!! My wife and I started 7 years ago with a 12' Sunfish and have been working our way up through what is commonly referred to as two foot itus. In our case it has been 5 foot itus a couple of times. We now find ourselves in a 33 with your beloved 37 in our sights! We wish you the best with your new boat! If you're any where near Barnegat Bay, we'ed love to see her. Don Bodemann

Welcome to this crazy world of Cherubini ownership. When I bought my 1979 H37C(Oct. 98) I had no idea that I was joining this special club. There is just no end of good information from good friends. And now Mr. Cherubini is sharing terrific new insights. This is a fun place to be when you can't be at the boat(it was 9 degrees when I left for work). You are close, I think, to my other sailing ground. We hang out at Atlantic Beach and sail in the ICW once or twice a summer. And hang around Beaufort(NC). Now, Ed, we need to know the serial number of your boat and the number of cylinders in your Yanmar. Ed Schenck (schencked@bfusa.com)

Don, Some of us don' t have the sense to work our way up. My first sailboat was also the H37 Cutter. It was also the first boat I ever sailed on (after I bought it!), and my first sail was across the Gulf of Mexico from Sarasota, Fl. to Galveston, Tx. So, even though some would recommend working your way up, it's not mandatory.

Ok Ed, here ya go: Here is the hull # HUN37051M79F The Yanmar is 3 cyl...starts on the first revolution, sounds like....I have never had a desiel start so readily.... Jacksonville is about an hour down hwy 70 and hwy 24 from Beaufort.... 73 Ed bt

So hull #51 has a 3-cyl and my hull #74 has a 2-cyl. Maybe someone blew the original and replaced with a 2QM? But I have so much old and original documentation and nothing about a repower. And I have learned that hull #1 came with a 2QM. Very confusing.

Engine was put in in '97 according to the previous owner...unknon reason...he never repsonded to my question....
