My water system has never worked since I received the boat in April. The dealer is now working on finding and eliminating air leaks in the lines. They have already changed the galley faucet once. The head faucet can get a prime after a couple of minutes of rapidly moving it back and fourth. Doing that will then allow the galley faucet to get a prime for about twenty seconds after which time both faucets become air-bound. The dealer has been working on a number of things on my boat for the past two weeks so hopefully the water system will be working by this weekend. Once I am sure the water system does work as designed and hold prime for a few weeks, I will add the small pump and switch under the galley faucet as you suggest.
