Testing new ad format

Seems like a strange thing to blast out as an ad. I can't imagine someone impulse buying this. Could you imagine sitting around one day and thinking, "Hey, I'll haul my boat and change out the strut this weekend"?:laugh::laugh:
1. You posted this on the "how much $$ for maintenance" thread. The OP there might be somewhat surprised.

2. Phil clearly said that the purpose of the ads was to inform Hunter owners of what is available. Has nothing to do with impulse buying. It did, however, get Kermit to come up with a good pun!:)

You got me, Stu. It was the first place I saw the ad, and the frog's comments, so I thought I'd join in. I'd like to see the OP on that other thread put a strut on a 30-year old Hunter 23!

lol, yeah, the ads are not context sensitive so they're as random as can be. Somebody here must know statistics but I'd guess the context will be right 1 in 100 tries. Keyword-driven ads will be phase 2.

FYI, code updates will change only future ads.

Forget that ironware, you'll get impulse buys with apparel. I've seen ads for companies selling market research on just tee-shirt sales (Teespy). It must work, I mean, who hasn't clicked this one at least 10 times?
(seriously? buy 3 get 9 free? where was that again...?)

Oh, now I get it, that's a tee-shirt add. I thought they were selling old dock boards, wrist tattoos or inebriated women. I'm glad the voices are back too! The tee shirts would probably be nice, but do little for my boats drive train. Hey, I buy stuff from the SBO store as well.

I admit. I clicked on the t-shirt ad. I don't need a cutless. Or a cutlass. Come to think of it I don't need a t-shirt.

Phil;
Many of the new folks coming to this site do not realize Hunter approached you to take care of the retail sales knowing you do a marvelous job. Many whom I help are unaware of that and restricting the Hunter parts to the Hunter forum helps me to tell them you have the parts. I see nothing wrong and would be a great way of marketing the fact you sell parts for the Hunter sailboats and in a lot of cases you are the only one who has them. I see nothing wrong and strongly suggest that you do but you may want to consider leaving the dock dollies out of it as some would prefer you do.

Well sir, I resemble that remark! It was merely a suggestion to pad the profits by appealing to the more compulsive constituents that roam these spaces. I've even heard sailors hang out here from time to time. Ha! And I'll bet there are a few that don't drink all their pay. That could be addressed with a line of private labeled spirits straight from the SBO ship's store, like, "SBO Crawl Daddy Ale", "SBO Bilge Shlitz (aged 26 years)", or "SBO Heeling Hard Cider (never lose that heeling feeling!)" Dock Dollies indeed.

GGordon;
I had people telling me how to advertise but when marketing sailboats, I kept it clean and professional. Sometimes now I see too much in advertisements and simply click off without seeing the ad. My customers were glad of that approach.
