Terminating the lines for the furler line and spinnaker sheets....

Hi,I have been enjoying my new roller furler headsail this summer. It's very nice.I have not done anything with properly terminating the end of the furling line. So far, I just have been tying it off to one of the wooden cleats, which doesn't work that well.Wondering how others have terminated their furling lines? I had some email conversations earlier in the summer about routing the line along the sidedecks with the stantions, which I have done using the standard Harken kit. THe last block that guides the line is at the staintion about midway along the cabin top. I am also interested in how people terminate their spinnaker sheets/guys.I was looking at the boat this morning with all the weird angles on the coaming....oye.thanks,roy

I just bolted a small plastic cleat on outside of cockpit coaming.

I bring the furling line aft to approx location on side deck of
spinnaker sheet turning block then bring the furling line through a
second block at same location to the plastic cleat.

Just take a few turns round cleat - no locking turn necessary - to
secure the furling line.

Can supply photo if you want but all very simple.

I'm a bit paranoid about lines going in the water that could foul the
prop so after furling the genoa I take a few turns round cleat, hank up
the surplus and secure in a line-holder attached to a nearby stanchion.

I bring spinny sheet/guyline onto a cockpit winch (easier to handle
under load) then secure on a wooden cleat.

I bring my furling line through a camcleat (like this one:

forward of the winch. It means that in very heavy weather I can take a turn
around the winch to reef the headsdail.

I only ever rig spinnaker sheets and guys if I intend flying it, otherwise
they are kept in the bag with the sail.Alisdair
