This is directed at Crazy Dave, but anyone with an answer is welcome.

I am trying to find the manufactures specs for tuning the standing rigging on my Hunter 22. Would Hunter have these? If you think so who should I contact?

Thanx

I've seen Dave tension shrouds. He has his own system that doesn't involve a Loos gauge or numbers. He just know how far they should pull when pulled upon. I hope he'll respond.

I tune my H23.5 fractional rig with a Loos gauge that I bought at West Marine.

It gives consistent,accurate readings if you follow the directions.

The objective is to have a mast that is straight side to side, with the forestay and shrouds tensioned, so that when sailing close hauled in a brisk wind, the lee shrouds are tensioned and not loose. I use the method described in the manual first and then proceed to tension the forestay and then the port and starboard shrouds EVENLY, a little at a time , using the gauge, and then test the results on the water. Much better than guessing the tension by "feel".

Here is alink to the directions.

lGary;

Contact me thru davecondon@mindspring.com with phone number and location. I will give you a call sir and go over my approach which worked well for me tuning small to large boats as taught by the old timer sail riggers and a few who use to tune some of the America Cup boats.
