Can anyone tell me the specs for the tension on the standing rigging? I believe they are usually stated in pounds or kilograms.

1980 C-30 Standard Rig

Thanks,

If you are using a Loos Guage, they show the suggested tension based on the diameter of your cable. You might also try their web site for additional technical specs.

Rig tension

Hi;

A lot depends on the condition of your rigging and chainplates. Loos recommends 10-15% of the breaking strength of the wire. You can find breaking strengths in the West Marine catalog under rigging wire.

On my 96 C30, I use 480-500 lbs on the lowers, and 700-800 on the uppers and on the back stay. With the split backstay, you have to double the reading, Adjust each split to 400 and you will have approx 800 on the single upper portion.

Fair winds
Dave:)
