Where would I locate the proper tension to set the upper and lower shrouds and back stays on my H27?

The proper tension is a percentage of the breaking strength of the wire. The most popular wire for standing riggin is 1 X 19 strand wire. The breaking strength depends on the size of the wire (thickness). I think, I could be wrong, that the h27 was originally rigged with 3/16" wire. The breaking stregth for 3/16" wire is 4,700 lbs. I like to start light in older boats so from 10% to 12% we get a tension of 470 lbs to 564 lbs. You have a split backstay so insure you divide the tension by 2 and insure both are at the same level. Apply tension gradually to each side insuring the mast remains straight.
