Just about to take posession of our new 460 and would like to know the best place to store the tender o/b. I havent purchased an O/b yet but I think I would like to put it in the lazarette. If this is where you store your o/b what is the make and horse power that fits into the lazarette?

Not in there

Please put the O/b on a stern rail bracket, Gasoline in the O/b could cause a disaster if stored below decks.

Lose the Laz...

..from experience on an OB stored in a laz, you tend to get mildew and corrosion. Hang it on the rail. Thats where I'm going to put it on my 40.5. Good luck. RD

Rick & John, Yes! I agree with your coments on the dangers of gas in the laz. But where do you keep your o/b when you arn't on the boay. or arn't you worried about theft of the o/b off the rail? Thanks again for your coments.

OB Security

Kevin, I have had an OB on the rail for 15 years. I do lock the clamp handles for security. It is in Los Angeles. They have always been small-ish 3.5 hp units. (Of course, now that I'm on this post, someone will probably swipe the next one.) Anyhow, I did find that mildew was a problem sice they are put away wet, even after a freshwater rinse and corrosion was a real problem, probably for the same reasons it caused mildew. Having said all that, putting aside the issue of the fuel, it is hardly a critical issue. Good luck, RD
