Temperature gauge for my Yanmar

I'd like to install a analog temperature gauge for my Yanmar (instead of the standard idiot light). Would a standard temp gauge from West Marine or BoatUS work? If so how and where do I install it on the engine (I have a Yanmar 3HM35 model)? Thanks, Pete Barton E-Mail: peteb93@hotmail.com

there are several articles in the archives about temp gauges, the short answer is yes a gauge for any boat store will work if matched to the sending unit(most stores sell them matched or for the same mfg so they work) Most people have added a sending unit for the gauge and left the light a bell alarm working (prefered method) but the sending unit is a 3/8" size. check the archives,lots of good info
