Don, my new Catalina 387 has inmast furling and no telltales at all. I haven't a clue what is going on when I am sailing this thing. There are no telltales on the jib either. Where should telltales be added on both sails? Jim

Jim Rushing: See the thread "telltales on the main" and especially the site listed by jimq26. I devote over 7 pages in my book on the subject of reading telltales. As I've mentioned I don't know how sailors trim their sails without them. Actually, I do know - the truth is they don't trim their sails to 100% efficiency. They merely guess at it and generally they are wrong.

I have copied the Tell Tale notes and will see if it is possible to add some to my exsisting sails. I was shocked to find out that my new boat didn't have any on the sails.
