Teak Traveler Blocks

Does anyone know where to get blocks of teak sufficient to fasten the traveler onto? I have a Catalina 30 and want to replace the curved traveler with a straight one. Garhauer will make composite ones, but I would rather have teak. I lcan get to the northern NJ southern CT area.

I was going to do the same, putting teak blocks on my old Pearson to support the traveler. And I just saw some in WM......'course it was in San Francisco! But your WM can probably get 'em if they don't already have 'em.Michael O'

Three suggestions.....

First, follow the link to Thai Teak Marine. Second, look in your local yellow pages for hardwood/exotic wood suppliers. Give them a call and see what they have. You might save some dough. West Marine is expensive.Third, if you have a marine surplus store in your region, like our "Minney's Yacht Surplus" out her in So Cal, I'm sure they will have a scrap bin that will have something the right size for your project.

rough cut lumber

You will get a better price and thicker pieces if you don't look for the finished lumber they have at WM/B.US. You will have to do a little sanding, but it should be worth it.You didn't say how much you need... When a previous owner of my boat moved the traveller to the cabin roof, he fabricated a block out of 2 inch boards to build a block almost 6 inches thick. This could work for you depending on what you are looking for.

teak travelers

I had a company, Woodworking for Watercraft build a teak vent for my Hunter 34', it worked out so well they're replacing my cabin sole. They seem to be able to fabricate almost anything out of Teak or Mahogany. You might try them. I found them on the goggle searchengine.
