My teak is now all sanded and oiled and ready to go back on...but when I pulled it off, it was not embedded with a silicone type sealant. Instead, it looked like they used some kind of white caulk that literally scraped off the bottom of the teak. With such a large area in contact with the boat, I'm concerned about too much (if any) adhesive property in whatever I embed it with. What are the recommended sealants for the teak boards...handrails? hatch slides? thanks!

I dry fit all my pieces, then using blue masking tape taped around every mating surface. I used 3M 4200 and just snugged each bolt, nut or screw and let that sit for at least 24 hours. Then went back and tightened every one tight, the masking tape made clean up easy and very neat. good luck Ken
