I'm looking to refinish the holly/teak sole floor panels on my Hunter 30T. I talked to Greg Emerson at Hunter and he recommends Profin Interior and SeaFin for the teak woodwork. I called Daly's Paint www.dalyspaint.com and the sales guy said that the Profin is a cross between the SeaFin Teak oil and Spar varnish. The ProFin comes in Gloss and Satin finish. Hunter uses the Gloss finish but rubs the finish out with a wool pad. The sales guy said the Profin satin was real easy to apply just brush it on then sand it into the wood using 400 wet/dry sand paper then wipe off the extra. Apply three coats and we should have a good looking floor. I asked about refinishing the floors after it's applied. He said that it depends on the use. It last approx 3 to 4 times as long as SeaFin teak oil. But the refinish follows the same application as at the first time but not the amount we would apply would be reduced. For me this would probably be every 2 years. The sales guy said we should do a quick sand of the panels, clean the wood with Naptha, and use Oxalic Acid to remove any stins on the wood. Cost:Profin $35 gallon $9.75 quart (I think 2 to 3 quarts would work)Oxalic Acid $5.00 for box of power.Naptha approx $5.00 gallonHe said that to apply the Profin in temps from 55 to 80 degree. If it too hot and humid the Profin is hard to work with (dries fast). I plan on giving this at try. I'm open to any suggestion that used this product. Jim
