VariableS

Hi. I am 14, a very good sailor, and my dad has an O'DAY 28. My dad is am engimeer, and like him, I LOVE to tinker with things (especially on our boat). But before I can help u, I am going to need some more information on your current probelem. there are lots of variables out there. E-mail me at Lyman57@hotmail.com -Ben McAndrew

Hope this helps

Andy, the bolt heads that hold the handrail on are covered with teak plugs. These must be reamed out using a drill bit to expose the head. Now, on my 25, down below in the plastic headliner are plastic caps that are friction fit inside the rail bolt hole. Carefully pry these off using a thin knife to expose the recessed nut. Having someone below pinching the nut with long needle nose pliers, unscrew the bolts. You can buy replacement teak plugs at your local chandlery. These are glued, and banged home and sanded back to the rail height. Obviously, I have made some big assumptions that our boats have similar rail mounts??? Don

Teak Hand Rail Removal

Andy, The hand rail set-up on my 272 is similar to what Don suggested. I want to pass along some other information in case you do damage the rails. They are probably available from Rudy at D&R Marine. Here is the phone number (if you don't already have it)(508)644-3001. Good luck Tom Ehmke
