Teak or Mahogany?

I removed the outboard motor mount on my 23.5 to shim it out for clearance to tilt the motor up. Gray as it is I assumed it is weathered teak but there is a remnant of a great looking finish where it was bedded to the transom. I'm tempted to sand and refinish it back to original. It is probably not worth refinishing if mahogany (I'd replace it). Can anyone verify if Hunter used teak or is it mahogany?

Teak

It most likely teak. Mahogany is sometimes used inside the cabin but for weather exposure, teak is commonly used.

Mahogany

Several years ago, we kept our 23.5 in a store-it-yourself storage yard, and the motor and mount were stolen.(Al least the unbolted the mount and did no damage to the hull to get the motor that was pad locked to the mount.) Hunter sent me a knew mount, which the insurance paid for, which was solid mahogany. The best part of this story is that we hated the old 2 cycle Tohatsu, which was extremely noisy and rattled the whole boat so much you could not carry on a conversation anywhere in the boat while it was running. A week after it was stolen, we recieved a recall notce from Tohatsu, warning of a fuel leak problem that had resultied in a couple fires and explosions, a notice that the thief was not privy to.
