Teak Oil on the interior white

I recently purchased a 33' Hunter. I'm noticing that there are areas where the PO was a little messy with the teak oil and got it also on the white surface of the interior. What can I do about this. will any cleaner work or will I have to eventually paint the whole interior to fix this?

Elbow grease worked for me.. In some cases I needed to use soft scrub and then polish the gelcoat after.

Acetone works great for this. no elbow grease needed it will just wipe off the teak oil.

Your first mates fingernail polish remover will work if its acetone based.

Any concentrated CAUSTIC will lift teak oil.
Example: EasyOff oven cleaner applied, covered with plastic film to soak, then simply rub off the oil. Be sure to mask what you dont want removed.

Other common caustics: TSP, Sodium Silicate, Lye, LyeSoap .... and of course 'oven cleaners' such as EasyOFF.

I'm not going to expound on the answers to your question. Have no experience with this. Just want to say you have a very good boat. I have done some offshore sailing in a Cherubini 33, and they are super.

Hey, Thanks everyone for your input! I will try one or the other of these suggestions. Thanks Seidelman S37. I am looking forward to finding out how good she is once we splash her next Thursday!

John, good ideas, all. Just a caution: when using cleaners, always start from what you consider the mildest FIRST. Good luck. FWIW, I slobber teak oil all over my white formica surfaces, simply because i have a lot of fiddle rails on our saloon table, nav station and galley. Soap & water works just fine for us.
