I am on my first boat, a 1997 H376, and just ran out of fresh water. I checked the original literature that was passed along from the prior owner, but can't find anything about the tank sizes for water, waste, or fuel. Does anyone know? Fortunately She's in her slip and I can connect a hose at the bow fir water!

Thanks,
Doc

If you select Hunter Boat Info under the Boat Info tab, then select the 376, then specifications, it says your boat has a 75 gallon water tank and 35 gallon fuel tank. It doesn't list holding tank capacity.

If this is your first boat...

I suspect you need to learn to conserve fresh water...you'll run out of water very quickly if you turn on a faucet and just let it run as you do at home.

Showers: you may have heard of "navy showers"...turn on the water long enough to get wet. Turn off the water while you lather up. Turn water back on only long enough to rinse off. This has been compared to standing in a small closet with a large wet dog.

Face washing and tooth brushing: same idea...turn on the water long enough to wet the toothbrush or the face cloth...turn it off till you're ready to rinse and spit.

Dish washing: use sea or lake water as much as possible...i.e. to pre-rinse. Fill sink with soapy water...wash dishes...one sinkfull of clean water to rinse.

You should have the idea by now...which is, NEVER just let water run. It's also a good habit to get into at home...'cuz as populations increase, demand for fresh water does too...we need to conserve it.

While I have your attention, you also need to learn how to operate and maintain your toilet and sanitation system...the only thing it has in common with the one at home is the china bowl. You'll find a few gems in the discussions in the Head Mistress forum...the link in my signature here will take you to a comprehensive "marine toilets and holding tanks 101" manual that should help you learn to prevent most problems instead of having to solve 'em. And I'm always glad to answer questions.
