My Wema tank gauges have failed again (holding tank registers 3/4 full even when fully pumped out). On my prior boat I used the Snake River systems with good results. I believe they are no longer making that product. Does anyone have any experience with the Material Science's SensaTank Marine 100 sytem?

Profile gauges area a better choice

Check 'em out here http://ferriellosales.com/default.php and check the archives for owner reviews of the product and the customer service. And btw, their senders are compatible with Wema, so you'd only have to replace the sender

WEMA

After many problems with the tank senders over 10 years I discovered they now sell stainless steel versions to replace the black plastic ones. I bought one and it works just fine and no modifications to wiring or panel as would have been the case if I had changed makers. I now await with interest to see if it survives.

I woudn't put a metal sender into a waste tank

Stainless is ok for water and MAY be ok for diesel (stainless fuel tanks are fine for gas, but not for diesel, raises the question of suitable it is as a sender), but urine is so corrosive that you'll be lucky if any metal sender in a waste tank lasts a season. I'd go with a system that uses senders that attach to the outside of the tank if I were you.

Thanks Peggy

My sender was for the fresh water tank. I looked up the stuff in urine and the resistance of 316 stainless to it - not good. My WEMA sender in the bow water tank actually broke in two (twice). The sewage tank in the stern doesn't get the pounding of the bow so plastic os okay.
