Peggy, We have a 1998 Hunter 376. The factory gauge has stopped working on both our potable water storage and our waste tank. Last year before commissioning I removed the gauge in the waste tank. It was a PVC pipe with weep holes all around it and a float in the middle. The float was stuck due to matter becoming trapped, I guess. I see that there are replacement tank gauges. Can I expect more longevity out of another guage? Is this a common problem? Our potable water tank is cleaned, sanitized, rinsed, emptied and refilled often. Is there some maintenance trick that we are missing? I am fairly certain that the actual readout part of the guage is okay. thanks in advance, Mike DiMario

Replace with AcuGage!

The best tank level monitoring system on the planet. Hunter is now using AcuGage on all their boats, because of the very problems with the Wema gauges that you've experienced. The online store here sells AcuGage at a VERY nice discount...but first, check 'em out on their website...link below.

gauges not working

Mike- while I agreed with Peggy that accugauge is a better product and wema gauges seem to be troublesome, you stated that both your gauges stopped working. If they stopped working at the same time it could be something more then the sending units in the tanks and you need to find why both gauges are not working. If they broke as seperate incidents then it would be a good time to replace with the accugauge rather then repair. If it is any help both mine have broken in the past and will not be repaired any more but replaced with the accugauge system. Good Luck !

I replaced the WEMA sender with the new style

My waste tank gauge quit due to the send gunking up. After surveying others and learning that WEMA redesigned the sender with a water flush fitting, I decided to just replace the sender and add the flush control. So far, (2 years) it is working just fine. The original had a problem after 1 year. I flush the sender for about 2 minutes during each pumpout. I have the flush connected to a seawater pump that I use for deck washdown and also for a galley seawater faucet. If it fails again, I will replace with Accugage. If it doesn't fail again, then I have fixed the problem for less than $50 with the new design sender.

Sending Unit

Peggy et al, I do not see any technical or configuration data for the sending unit for the Accugage Units. I visited their website as well. I was thinking the Accugage was just the readout. Does anyone have experience with their sending unit (in tank assembly)? Thanks, Mike D

AcuGage

Mike: First we are in the process of redoing our WebPages with all the tech items you could possibly need. But that is a couple of months off. The AcuGage is our sender, outside the tank for plastic tanks and an in tank rod for metal water, waste and diesel. The main difference is our rods have no moving parts and use capacitance like our sensor for the outside of tanks. We don’t have failures because of something being clogged up. There is NO service on our units. Once installed properly you will have years and years of trouble free service. I go to shows and speak to people who have had our units for 10-15 years and they work fine. The AcuGage works on capacitance. It works on a 0 to 5 volts scale. Since is uses capacitance there is no foiling of the unit. Waste does not affect the reading. One thing on adding our unit that has had a WEMA unit is that our unit uses 3 wires. Power, Ground and Signal. WEMA uses 2 wires. The grounds on our unit can be tied together below and only one ground has to be run to the panel. Our you can use if you have a common ground on the boat. On some boats this is easy on a few close to impossible. I hope this answered a few of your questions. If you need more send me your email I will answer any other questions you have. Dennis Ferriello Sales Manager Snake River Electronics
