Hey All

I'm heading to the Chesapeake Bay in the morning with my family and my new-2-me Balboa 26' in tow. I have four days booked at a marina called "The Chesapeake Boat Basin" just outside of Kilmarnock (just a tad south of the Potomac)

My boat has blue topsides, a white boot stripe and a red bottom. If you spot me, slide on over for a beer or a glass of wine (I'll have red and white). If I'm on the water hail me on 16.

Heading to Tangier on Saturday. It will be my first trip there. Can't wait. Been wanting to go there for years. Plan to eat crabs until I pop.

Fair winds and I hope your Independence day celebrations are grand!!!!

You will love Tangier Island. Its another world out there.Nicest people,I`m told 300-400 live on the Island. They have a nice restaurant where we had a nice family style meal.Dont forget Smith island, next island over ,2 or 3 miles away,I think.
We keep our Hunter 356 at Crisfield,Md.,closest town on the main land.In fact we may sail over there on the 4th.
Have Fun

Take your wine and beer. They allow drinking in the Restaurants but no alcohol is sold on the Island. They'll uncork a bottle and provide the wine glasses but you have to bring it. If you see fishing boats pulling out during the evening they are not going fishing but to their sister city in Maryland to get a brew. Good boat handlers, sober and otherwise. A couple of interesting things; bachelors will hang around the airport and the ferry dock in hope of finding a mate, they bury their dead in their yards, town's people will walk around in their pajamas until is time for the ferry to arrive, they love to mock visitors to their face by speaking the old brittish English but foremost these are probably one of the nicest people that I have met. Enjoy your visit and stay at least one night. Parks Marina is the only show in town but the stories of Mr. Parks are worth every penny of the slip fees. The Island is dissapearing, it is shrinkin by erosion and the day will come when it will no longer be. Now is the time to go.

Hey Thin Water

We were there the night of the 6th. It would have been very cool to finally meet you. I still have that Chincoteague trip on my bucket list. I think once I get all of the bugs worked out with this boat... this will be the one to do it in.

I pulled the internal tank on my Balboa this afternoon... cleaned it out with strong detergent and lots of water a few gallons at a time. I've been having trouble fouling the carb on my outboard. The tank is now in the shed waiting a complete dry out. The PO listed the boat with an 10 gal internal tank. But when I pulled it, I discovered it is a 17 gallon tank. :)

It just keeps getting better.

Fair winds,
