Tangier Island is in Virginia, not Maryland. Those Maryland people buffaloed us into ceding the Potomac all the way on the southern shore to the low tide line back in 1787. We are not giving up Tangier! And furthermore, we still own half of Smith Island just to the north of Tangier.ha rumph.

Was just there last week. Yes the channel is deep enough both on the east and west sides. Channels are well marked. Set your alarm for 3am so you can get up to see all the activity when they check the shedder sheds.

Go to Tangier

We have been to Tangier several times already this year. We draw 5'6" and have had no issues. Call Parks Marine ahead of time for a slip - Milton (Parks) indicated that this has been his best year. Entering from the East of West is well marked. The East entrace was dredged earlier this year.

Love Tangier

I go there several times each year. Channel is plenty deep for 5 ft draft. I like to anchor in Cod Harbor and go ashore to the long beach when the wind and weather allow.

Planning on leaving Sunday morning, with an overnight stop at Coan River.
